Why You Need To Buy From A Reputable Breeder
September 10th, 2007 at 01:47 am by Cat Lover in Cat Breeds, GeneralIf you are thinking of getting a pedigree cat or kitten, it’s advisable to look for a breeder that is both responsible and reputable. Why you need to get a reputable and responsible breeder, you may ask.
Very simply, reputable breeders are not in for the money. Though it may sound skeptical, reputable breeders are usually breeders that have fallen in love with their breed and want to improve the breed to the best of their abilities. In other words, that means breeding the best cats possible.
Responsible breeders are totally devoted to their breed. No only are they knowledgeable about their breed’s standard, they don’t breed the breed unnecessary. They only breed to improve the bloodlines of the breed. Their objective besides improving the bloodline is also to breed healthy kittens. The kittens available from these breeders are limited as they seldom breed their cats and as a result they have a long waiting list for their kittens. These breeders will screen prospective owners before selling them.
Another thing to take note is that kittens from reputable breeders cost the same as kittens from backyard breeders, pet stores, or commercial breeders. When you purchase a kitten from a reputable breeder, you purchase a quality kitten wit ha known history. For those of you who need help and advice on training issues, these breeders will be glad to assist you. Kittens from reputable breeders are dewormed and vaccinated and only allow to leave after 12 weeks old.
Reputable breeders always ensure their kittens are screen for hereditary diseases linked with their breed as they want to make sure that the kittens they are breeding are the healthiest they can be. They will not pressure you into buying a kitten right away and will always inform you about the pros and cons of getting that particular breed.
It’s not hard to find a reputable breeder if you know where to look for it. There is much information available on the internet and you can always check out advertisements in cat magazines. Remember go for a reputable and responsible breeder if possible, you will not regret your decision.

Once you have decided to get a cat as your pet, your next selection headache may be in deciding on whether to get a kitten or a adult cat.
There’s nothing more adorable than a kitten. Kittens are so adorable and cute. In fact kittens are beyond cute. Watching your kitten grow up is just like watching a little fluff-ball grows up; every single moment is so charming.
However, looking after a kitten requires a lot of work. Kittens are very active and inquisitive, full of movement and always get into the smallest of troubles. Kittens require more attention and also need more socialization to integrate into the household. If you have no one around during the day, you should reconsider getting a kitten. While kittens are cute and loving, their personalities may change if neglect or left alone for long periods of time. In the end, you may end up with a very aloof cat.

You have been looking around on what to get for a pet and finally you decided a cat is just right for you! Congratulations! You are not alone in believing cats are just the right pet for you. Having a cat as a pet is not only satisfying, and in fact cat is the most popular house pet around.
Even though the cat is more aloof and independent than the dog, the cat will still show plenty of affection to her owners. Besides that, nothing beats the coziness of cuddling up with your cat on a cold day. Also, very little obedience training is required for your cat beyond the litter box training.
A cat is best suit for a busy family as cats don’t require the constant attention that a dog needs. But don’t be mistaken that cats don’t need attention at all, they do. Cats just require lesser attention than most other pets. For example, if you go on holiday, your dog will actually require kenneling whereas your cat will do fine with just a pet sitter.
Besides affection, love, and attention, cats also require some training for litter box and scratching and also periodic veterinary care. Once you bring home your cat, you will know that you have made the correct decision.
