The Black Persian Longhair Cat

A true Black Persian is a relatively rare animal as the glossy black color is difficult to breed. Its jet black coat is silky and thick with a full frill at the neck and shoulders.

The Black Persian has short thick legs, rounded large paws and short bushy tails. The head is rounded and broad with fully developed cheek and a short nose. The eyes are round and large, either dark orange or copper in color.

The Black Persian is lively for a Persian but retains the characteristic affection for its owners. It prefers an indoor life and is an able mouser. The cat with true black version should be discouraged from over exposure in direct sunlight, which will bleach its coat and from dampness which will cause a tint of brown. Care for Black Persian is similar to the White Persian.
