For many people, a single cat is the ideal situation. However, for others, cats seem to be like potato chips. They can’t stop with just one. This is partly because there are so many wonderful cat breeds and partly because most cats enjoy the companionship of other cats.

Is owning more than one cat right for the cat you already own? If your cat is home alone for long periods of time and seems to be lonely, he may enjoy having another cat around. In addition, an older cat will often develop a new lease on life when a new kitten joins the family. However, cats who enjoy their solitude or are very territorial towards their homes and families may not appreciate sharing their lives with another cat.

Your Persian cat will absolutely adore your houseplants and the truth is that most are toxic to him. Many will cause him to become ill and some will even be fatal but none of this will prevent him from chewing them and digging in the soil.

There are three things that you can do to prevent your Persian cat from not only ruining your houseplants, but also prevent him from becoming ill. The first step is to prevent him from digging in the soil. This is easily done by covering the top of the soil with pebbles or rocks. Space between the rocks will still allow water and air to get to the soil, so this is usually not a problem for the plants.

Most pet owners these days immediately have their animals spayed or neutered, in an attempt to control the pet population and this is recommended and commendable. However, in the case of Purebred Persians, you might want to put some serious thought into this.

First, depending on the requirements of your breeder, you may be forced to have your Persian spayed or neutered or it may be done by the breeder before the cat is even allowed to go to your home. If the cat is not to be spayed or neutered, you can and should expect to pay a great deal more for it because this gives you breeding rights for the cat which of course puts you in direct competition with the breeder.

You love your cat but you love your furnishing, drapes, and carpeting as well. Unfortunately cats are notorious for absolutely ruining furnishing, drapes, and carpet, and even walls and baseboards because they use these objects as scratching posts.

First, if your cat is making a mess of the furnishings in your home, you really can’t blame the cat. He’s just doing what comes naturally to him and because you haven’t provided any other alternatives that are suitable, you have only yourself to blame. Alternatives must be provided, because you are not going to stop the cat from scratching when the need arises.

Most people, regrettably, do not put much thought or consideration into choosing a veterinarian for their pets. But because you spend a great deal of money on your Persian, it is essential that you provide him with the best possible healthcare, which means that you must choose the best possible veterinarian for him.

Many pet owners mistakenly wait until a veterinarian is needed before they begin their search for one. Don’t do this! You want to have your veterinarian selected, and have already started building a relationship with that veterinarian before your Persian cat needs one. Ideally, you will purchase your Persian cat and drive straight to the veterinarian’s office that you have selected, so that you can introduce the two, and so that the veterinarian can immediately examine your Persian cat.

Nothing is more irritating to an owner than a cat who scratches up the furniture. Nothing is more enjoyable to a cat than having furniture to scratch up. It’s a problem that has existed between felines and the people that they own for as long as cats have been kept as pets. Fortunately, today we do have solutions.

First, make sure that the cat gets a bad result from scratching the furniture. This result cannot be you yelling at the cat or squirting him with a squirt bottle. This just tells the cat to avoid you or to avoid scratching the furniture when you are around. It doesn’t stop him from doing it altogether.

For the most part, if you own a cat, you will have hairballs. This is especially true for long haired cats such as the Persian. However, there are steps that you can take to reduce the number of hairballs that you and your cat have to suffer. The first step is to realize that something must be done about the hairballs, because they are more than a nuisance, they also pose a danger to your cat!

Hairballs have the potential to block the intestines, which in turn blocks the digestion of food. This can cause the cat to become impacted at the very worst. And as a result, it will not be getting the proper nutrition at the least.

If you own a cat and particularly a long-haired cat like a Persian, chances are good that you have a shedding problem. The cat is shedding, and this is a problem for you. So, how can a Persian owner deal with shedding, and prevent cat hair from covering their clothes and furnishings?
