Insuring pets is still a relatively new thing in our society, but more and more pet owners are finding that paying the premiums for pet insurance is well worth it. Because Persian cats cost so much initially, should you consider purchasing pet insurance for your Persian?

The answer to this is a resounding yes. As much as Persians cost initially and throughout their lives and as much as one could win in prize money at the cat shows for these beautiful animals, one would even wish that you could purchase life insurance on these animals, but you can’t. What you can purchase is pet insurance, which covers medical costs for the animal.

Costs for veterinarian services are on the rise. These days, there are many diagnostic tests that can be performed, and those tests are costly. However, in the instance of purebred animals, such as the Persian cat, diagnostic tests, as well as genetic testing is essential and largely unaffordable by the vast majority.

Then there are emergency situations that must be paid for. Cats are known for having urinary and bladder problems. These problems often have to be corrected with surgery, which can cost thousands of dollars. Without the surgery, the cat will most likely die. Even if the problem can be treated without surgery, the fix is temporary at best, and the owner can expect to have the cat in the veterinarian’s office again and again, for the same problem, at a cost of hundreds of dollars for each episode.

This is where pet insurance really comes in handy. Not only does pet insurance cover routine exams and care, but it will also pay a large percentage of procedures that must be performed due to illness or injuries. Believe it or not, pet insurance actually saves the lives of many animals, because without such insurance, the owners wouldn’t be able to afford the care, which leads to the animal being put down.

Pet insurance is quite affordable, and typically costs anywhere from $10 to $20 per month, depending on the type of animal you have and the age of the animal. Pet insurance can now be bought through independent companies and through many major insurance carriers as well.

The next time that you review or renew your own insurance, be sure to ask your insurance agent if pet insurance is available. When you insure your pet through the same agent or company where you have your own insurance, you are often offered discounts on the pet insurance, which is an added bonus.

You spend a lot of money on your Persian cat. It simply makes sense to go ahead and spend a few pennies more for health insurance for your Persian as well.

Many people love their pet so much they have them insured. Cat care and health insurance is not the same thing. The first is a must while the latter can be forgone.

In order to care for your cat, you must understand your pet as a pet. You have to be responsible once you have taken the steps to acquire a feline companion. There should be no going back. So think twice, thrice and a hundred of times before committing into becoming a parent to a pet.

Cats are special. They can see sharper than humans do. They can also smell a lot better. This is the reason why you need to arrange things in your home accordingly once you have decided that a cat will soon join in.

Do not let anything that may cause them harm lying around. This is the same concept that you must apply like when you have a child. You want to protect them. That is why you keep those harmful objects out, specifically the poisonous ones. You do not want to cause your own child and pet serious accidents.

You have to provide the right cat food for your pet. You cannot give them what you had for dinner. Your bodies and its requirements are not the same. So give them the food that is specifically made for them. This way, they will get all the necessary nutrition that they need.

So before you think about owning a cat, look over the prices of the food. It may take about $8 to $12 monthly to keep your cat purring happily. Can you afford it? You may have to make some adjustments with your lifestyle to be able to accommodate the need. Just think that it will all be worth it.

Recreation must also be given consideration when you own a cat. You cannot adopt one and think that it will be happy just by playing by itself. You have to find time to play with your pet and bond with it. In time, you will know what activities they enjoy. And so you will be able to make the necessary adjustments to make time for such activities.

Because of their strong sense of smell, budgeting must also be highlighted on the litter boxes of your cats. You have to give them clean and well-maintained ones. Your cat will not to their strut on an untidy litter box. Your regal baby cannot stand the stink. So be careful with how everything smells. What is okay with you may be abominable for your feline companion.

Finding the nearest veterinarian is also a must. You need them in cases when you think that something is not right with your cat. For this reason, you have to be very observant.

Yes, cats can groom themselves. But you have to help them in maintaining their teeth clean and strong. You don’t want that factor to be the reason why your cat will be depressed on its old age. So develop a habit of cleaning their teeth through brushing, flossing and having a regular teeth check up with your vet.

Health Insurance

You can do without this. But if you really want to get one, see if your trusted vet is among the list of the recommended vets of your chosen insurance. You don’t want to end up taking long trips just to be able to claim what the insurance promises to give.

It is better to hone your skills on cat care and health insurance can be put aside. But it all depends on you. There is nothing wrong with having one. Just make sure that you can afford it and it will not take toll on the monthly budget your family and feline friend require.

Pet healthcare insurance is a red hot topic. Is it necessary? Well the first thing you need to know, especially if you’ve never owned a pet before this new kitty that’s just joined your family, is that veterinary clinics cost a lot of money! This implies that pet healthcare insurance is a good idea, but wait – don’t go signing that agreement just yet!

Before committing to a particular healthcare plan for your kitten, make sure that you collect a number of different leaflets from various companies. Then spend a couple of hours reading through each one and if possible, create yourself a table that lists the types of benefits down the side and the names of the insurance companies along the top. You should also leave space at the bottom of each insurance company’s column to write in anything “not covered by policy”, this could include specific chronic conditions such as allergies, diabetes and asthma. Complete the table as you read the leaflets.

Once you know what each insurance covers, and how much the cost, and more importantly what their policy doesn’t cover, you can start to see which policy(s) stand out from the rest as being good possibilities. Before you sign up for anything check on the internet for any reviews the company has for its pet insurance. Just because offer a fantastic house insurance, or retirement planning package, doesn’t mean they will pay for whatever illness you kitten may have throughout its life! See what other people who have used them as healthcare insurance for their cats have to say.

Finally, read the small print. Will they cover your kitty for the same amounts and same illnesses throughout her entire life, or will it change as she gets older? That is to say, when she starts to have health issues, will the insurance company still have the same good benefits and prices or will there be exemptions and higher excesses for you to pay once she really needs the insurance.

You may decide that it’s worth the peace of mind just to insure your kitty anyway, but at least you know that things are going to get more expensive as she gets older – or you could simply decide to ignore the insurance (routine annual check-ups and shots are excluded from the policy anyway) and financially commit the same amount of money to a special account each month, and use that only when kitty has extra healthcare needs.
