Once you have decided to get a cat as your pet, your next selection headache may be in deciding on whether to get a kitten or a adult cat.
There’s nothing more adorable than a kitten. Kittens are so adorable and cute. In fact kittens are beyond cute. Watching your kitten grow up is just like watching a little fluff-ball grows up; every single moment is so charming.
However, looking after a kitten requires a lot of work. Kittens are very active and inquisitive, full of movement and always get into the smallest of troubles. Kittens require more attention and also need more socialization to integrate into the household. If you have no one around during the day, you should reconsider getting a kitten. While kittens are cute and loving, their personalities may change if neglect or left alone for long periods of time. In the end, you may end up with a very aloof cat.
Getting an adult cat is an option you may want to consider if you want a cat with stable temperament. Adult cats require less attention and exercise as compared to kittens as they are more or less settle down. However, an adult cat may have pick up some bad habits from previous owners or suffered from previous traumatic experiences. Training and further socialization will be necessary then.
Adult cats are generally less appealing than kittens and this result in a lot of adult cats being abandon to shelters. If you are going to get a cat, why don’t consider getting an adult cat. Adult cat may not be as cute or as lovable as kittens but older cats are much better pets. As cats can live up to 20 years or more, older cats still have lots of loving years in them. Older cats are more mature and less active and are great for families with small children or seniors.
