63 cats were surrendered to the Austin Animal Center by a cat loving South Austin family who are unable to care for these cats after being evicted from their home. It was clear that the family was not able to properly care for such a large number of cats, even though their intentions are noble.
None of the cats taken in have been vaccinated or sterilized, and this shows in the large number of kittens being taken in. The vets in the center are working doubly hard to ensure each cat is thoroughly examined and given proper medical attention if required.
As a result of the large influx of new cars in the center, 200 over older cats at the center need to be fostered or move out. The center is now appealing to cat lovers to save these cats by adopting them via an adoption event till September 26.
